Teenage performers in seventh grade and older can audition for the Levels Spring 2019 musical, Pippin, on Tuesday, Feb. 26, and Thursday, Feb. 28, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Levels, Great Neck Library Main Building, 159 Bayview Ave.
Levels, the cultural center for teens located at the Main Library, presents several theatrical productions each year, which are directed, produced and performed by students in seventh-grade through college.
In the Tony Award–winning musical Pippin, a mysterious troupe of players, acrobats and circus artists tell the story of a young prince on a death-defying journey to find meaning in his existence. Will he choose a happy but simple life or will he risk everything for a singular flash of glory?
Pippin features an amazing score by Stephen Schwartz, who also wrote the music for Godspell and Wicked, that includes “Magic to Do” and “Corner of the Sky,” and sizzling choreography by Bob Fosse, choreographer of Chicago and Cabaret.
For the audition, prepare at least 16 bars of a Broadway-style song that you can sing a cappella. Be ready to read from the script that will be provided and perform a group dance/movement number.
Pit orchestra musicians are also needed. Contact Levels if you are a teen in seventh-grade or older who plays bass, cello, clarinet, drums, flute, guitar, horn, keyboard, oboe, percussion, trombone, trumpet or violin.
The performance is scheduled from May 16 to 18. For more information, contact Levels at 516-466-8055, ext. 216.
