Nancy Wernersbach’s art career began at an early age, thanks to her parents’ gift of the big box of 128 Crayola crayons. Her love for painting and desire to capture the beauty of the natural world in her art was nurtured at Southampton College of Long Island University in Southampton, leading her to graduated with a BFA degree in 1981.
Following college, Wernersbach ran her own stained-glass design company and enjoyed many years as an assistant to a fashion jewelry design firm.
Over the last 10 years, Wernersbach has become a full-time artist and illustrator and moved into a new medium of digital painting using a graphic tablet and painting software on the computer.
“I bring the same love of nature with an added element of whimsy into my digital-art illustrations, which are licensed worldwide through HVC Licensing for jigsaw puzzles, greeting cards, garden flags and a variety of home décor products,” she said.
The artwork featured on the cover of Springtime! is a digital painting entitled “At Home in the Victorian Garden” and was inspired by Old Westbury Gardens. It will debut soon as a jigsaw puzzle by Bits & Pieces.
The artist’s watercolor and oil paintings have been exhibited and won awards in national and regional juried art shows in the New York City and Long Island area. Wernersbach also does pet and house portrait commissions.
