New, Improved Blue Point Brewery Opens To Public

Blue Point Brewing Company’s much-anticipated new brewery opened to the public this week in its expanded location in downtown Patchogue.

Long Island’s oldest local craft brewery moved from its original digs on River Avenue, which closed last year, to its more spacious 54,000-square-foot location on West Main Street in the former Briarcliffe College building. It costs $35 million to build.

Opening night was Thursday. The new brewery will be open for tours, tastings, and eats 3-9 p.m. Wednesdays through Thursdays, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturdays, and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Sundays, except this weekend, when it will be closed Easter Sunday.

In addition to having a restaurant for the first time, the new brewery will also host live music. This weekend, The Brother Pluckers are playing Friday and Albums We Love plays Saturday.

Exclusive merchandise such as key chains will be available throughout opening weekend in partnership with Old Soldier, the company said.

Among the dozens of beers on tap will be Summer Ale, The Shore Thing, Pinstripe Pil, Toasted Lager, Una Fria, Delayed, Blueberry Ale, BlackBerry Gose, Virtue Cider Rose, Mosaic IPA, Hop in the Shower, The IPA, Citrus Plunge, Bubble Brain, Hoptical Illusion, Hazy Variant, Hazy Bastard, and Coconator.

Blue Point, bought by Anheuser-Busch InBev in 2014, was founded by Long Island natives Mark Burford and Pete Cotter in 1998.
