Donation Request from Little Shelter: Not much was known about Daisy’s past except that she was found in a basement abandoned by her owner, severely matted, injured and crying to be saved. What was found under her matted and dirt caked fur was heartbreaking; her right paw was missing leaving only a bone-exposed forelimb. It’s hard to say if this happened due to the constrictions of the matted fur or by some other means, but the wound needed immediate treatment. That’s when Little Shelter scooped Daisy up and brought her to Huntington. Now that Daisy’s paws have healed as much as they can on their own, she needs a custom splint to correct the damage to her left leg, followed by an orthotic so that she can live a healthy and happy life! If you can help Little Shelter raise the $3,000 they need to make this happen, please head to their campaign page found  here: campaignlp.constantcontact.com

Penelope is quite the lovely American Hairless Terrier! This 4-year-old purebred pup is spayed, up to date on all her shots, is housebroken and good with other dogs too! Penny, as she’s lovingly known as, was surrendered to the rescue because her mom didn’t want to spend the time to properly train her. Penny is doing wonderfully in her foster home, and now she is seeking a terrier experienced person to be her new mom and/or dad. Because she is a hairless terrier, she needs to wear clothing to protect her from the weather, hot or cold, from the sun, even in the winter, the rain and so on. This is absolutely of the utmost importance! Penny would do best in a calm adult home with no young children. If you’re looking for a dog who loves to snuggle and can provide a little guidance along her way, Penny is your gal!

Our Best Friends Animal Rescue is dedicated to trying alternative therapies, however there are no guarantees that Lucas will walk. But Lucas loves going for walks in his wheelchair. He runs like the wind, loving his balls and squeaky toys. He wears a belly band so he doesn’t have accidents in the house and is will do his business outside if given the time. Lucas realizes that he has been saved and shows you with his loyalty and love. His only handicap is the one that humans say he has. Sure, it takes a little more work with a pup like him, but what you get in return is priceless.

So poor Hambone gets a bad rap and winds up on the euthanized list. Thankfully this sweetie was spotted by a volunteer who scooped him up and brought him to Our Best Friends Animal Rescue. Turns out, Hammy is the funniest dog! He is happy all the time. He’s very food motivated and rather easy to work with. Hammy needs a home without young children that has experience with herding breeds. Hambone is good with other dogs and can be tested with cats too.
