RXR Realty, one of the largest real estate owners, managers, and developers in New York State, held a topping-out ceremony to celebrate the construction milestone at Village Square in Glen Cove on Sept. 13.

The ceremony was attended by RXR Realty leadership including Chief Construction and Development Officer Todd Rechler, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Construction and Development Joanne Minieri, and Executive Vice President of Residential Development and Construction Joe Graziose. Also in attendance were representatives of Hunter Roberts Construction Group, including William DeCamp 111, Senior Vice President, as well as the Glen Cove city mayor, city officials, members of the Chamber of Commerce, and Glen Cove Business Improvement District.

Scheduled to open by March 2020, Village Square, a project viewed by many as key to the revitalization of downtown Glen Cove, will feature a 16,500-square-foot public plaza, 15,600-square-feet of retail space and 146 studio, one-and two-bedroom rental apartments, 10 percent of which would be workforce housing. It is being built on a 2.8-acre site on Brewster Street.

RXR has been committed to using a strong complement of local talents and services for the construction of the project, with a total of 89 percent of the construction completed by local contractors.
