Recently, New York State Senator Anna M. Kaplan presented the New York State Senate 2019 Empire Business Award to Nanking Restaurant in New Hyde Park, an Asian fusion restaurant located at 2056 Hillside Ave., that serves Indian, Chinese and Thai cuisine. The award was presented to owners Mike Himani and Harkesh Yadav in recognition of their outstanding contributions and dedication to the community and New York State.
“Nanking has truly become a home for the diverse communities of New Hyde Park to come together for a great meal and to work towards the betterment of our community,” Kaplan said. “By generously hosting and supporting so many local groups, Nanking is helping these organizations to grow and thrive, so that they can improve the lives of our friends and neighbors.”
“When we opened Nanking in New Hyde Park 15 years ago, we made it our mission to give back to the many groups that bring our diverse communities together and uplift our neighbors in need of a voice,” Himani said. “We are so honored to be recognized by Senator Kaplan for our efforts and will continue to do everything we can to support the community.”
Recipients of the New York State Senate Empire Award are businesses that excel in their field while playing an active role in supporting their community.
Nanking Restaurant is known for opening their doors to many local community groups, often generously providing dinners and catering services as well. These groups support community service efforts taking place in New Hyde Park and the broader community, and all serve to support our uniquely diverse suburban way of life.
“Nanking Restaurant truly represents the best of what a business can be and I’m so proud to present them with a 2019 New York State Senate Empire Award in recognition of their contributions to our community,” Kaplan concluded.
