Cat Named Candy Cane Among Pets That Want To Come Home With You For The Holidays

pjimage (93)

This holiday season, please remember that pets are a lifetime commitment, not just a gift for under the tree. If you can forever open your home to an animal, please adopt from a local shelter or rescue, or start by checking out the adorable adoptables right here!

If you wish to help animals in need but can’t adopt, consider donating locally. You’ve seen the heartfelt commercials for the ASPCA, but did you know SPCAs are not affiliated with one another? This confusion greatly affects the Nassau County SPCAs ability to receive much needed donations, allowing them to actively investigate animal cruelty and animal crimes here on Long Island.

Additionally, the Nassau County SPCA is run on a 99 percent volunteer basis, which means unlike the ASPCA, all donations go straight to their rescue missions, animal care, and preventive programs for animals in Nassau.  By supporting the Nassau County SPCA, you are helping animals right here in your own community, educating your neighbors, and saving the pets next door to you. For more information, check out their website at SupportYourLocalSPCA.org.

Cori
Cori

NSALA has a special resident they’ve been stowing away in their Medical Center for several months, but they can’t keep her a secret any longer. Ten-year-old Cori (adoption #R165159) is ready to find her home. This loving, female tortie survived a great injury thanks to the dedicated care of NSALA’s top Medical Team. Cori’s patience and resilience has warmed everyone’s hearts, and the success of her laser treatments has afforded her a second chance at life. Cori needs to continue wearing a cast to protect her wound but she thinks she looks stunning in it, and everyone agrees. She also has a mild heart condition that will be monitored at cost through NSALA’s Medical Center. All Cori asks for in a home is to be the only pet so she doesn’t have to share your lap with anyone…not too much to ask, right?

Calvin and Hobbes

Calvin (adoption #R166730) and Hobbes (adoption #R166731) are a rather reserved pair, looking for a home of their own. This subdued pair of 7-month-old, domestic short hair brothers need more from you than just ear rubs to assure them they’re safe-they’ll need adopters committed to loving and caring for these beautiful boys for the rest of their very long lives ahead and a home with children 8 and up in age. Time, patience, and some playtime will open doors to a happy future in your home. It all begins once you take notice of two shy little boys with imploring eyes.

Tetrazzini
Tetrazzini

Tetrazzini (adoption #D48087) likes to keep an eye on things from atop her perch as she figures out this new phase in her life. This 2-year-old gal with the big beautiful eyes are intent and her nose twitches with excitement when she meets new friends. She may shyly back away at first but offer her treats and some gentle words and she’ll be melting in your arms in no time. Tetrazzini’s ideal home is one where she’s the only pet so she can be sure she’s getting all the attention she has been missing.

Available for adoption at Last Hope Animal Rescue:Princess 3

SENIOR ADOPTION REQUEST: Princess is a royal lady, a sweet 14-year-old Miniature Poodle surrendered by her owners who chose to give her up rather than perform life-saving surgery on this spunky little girl. After her surrender, she did have pyometra surgery, which only means she wasn’t spayed and had a badly infected uterus that needed to be removed. Princess has recovered beautifully and continues to dazzle potential adopters with her “oldie but goodie” charms. Please consider opening your heart and home to this deserving gal. candy cane

Candy Cane’s life could be much sweeter, and you can help make that happen. This chubby-cheek, peppermint tabby with dazzling green eyes was rescued in Bay Shore with her kittens and then fostered. This sweet gal is now 1 ½ years old and ready to hang out/under/near your Christmas tree. Candy Cane is seeking a forever family that she can love forever.
