Police Aide Manhasset Woman In Labor

The Nassau County Police Department reports the details of an Aided that occurred at 7:43 a.m. on May 16 in Manhasset.

According to Police, officers responded to a residence for a woman in active labor, delivering her baby at home. Upon police arrival, officers Keith Owens and Stacie Torres observed the female aided in active labor being assisted by the baby’s father.

Within a minute of the officers arrival, the mother delivered a baby girl into the arms of the father. At that time, the father handed the newborn baby girl to officer Owens who had retrieved from his first aid kit a bulb syringe to clear the baby’s airway to facilitate breathing.

Police Medics Bolivar Graffeo and Dalena Tran evaluated the mother and baby and transported both to North Shore Manhasset Hospital for further evaluation.

Thanks to both the Officers and Medics quick responses and training the Mother and baby are in good health and doing well.
