Available for adoption through Pioneers for Animals Welfare Society:

Zeus
Zeus

Meet Zeus; this 4-year-old Staffie mixed-breed is 65 pounds of pure love! Big and goofy, Zeus loves to play, loves to hug and basically just loves to be loved. He is good with dogs and all people and seems okay with cats. He is just waiting patiently for his new home.  Due to his size, he would do best with children older than 10.

Koby
Koby

**Special Needs Request** Don’t tell sweet 10-year-old Koby that he has a neurological issue that affects his walking. He mostly gets around by himself but does need help at times as he does forget he needs to take it slow. He loves his toys, naps and people! His requirement for his retirement years is a person who understands his neuro/walking issues, who has lots of patience and lots of love to give. He will give the love back 1,000 times over. It seems he may have lived his life as a junkyard dog and he just wants to enjoy his twilight years in a quiet home lavishing in love and attention. He will make a wonderful companion as he really loves people. He does need a fenced in backyard in which to safely walk around and sunbathe. He also needs to be the solo pet in the house.

Luna
Luna

**Senior Alert** Luna is a 12-year-old Bull Mastif mix who was sadly and cruelly dumped at kill shelter in her golden years. She was on the euthanasia list and just seemed to accept her fate until PAWS jumped in at the last minute. She’s been with a wonderful foster who is helping her to trust again, but it’s taken awhile. She loves to nap and go for walks. She is best in a home with no other dogs, cats or children under 13 years old. She needs a patient person with a big heart to help her believe again that people can be good.

Thelma
Thelma

Thelma is a sweet-as-sugar 5-year-old staffie/bulldog mix who is as gentle as they come. Just look at this face! Thelma loves to cuddle and play. She gets along well with other dogs and enjoys going to the park. Thelma would do best in a home with children over the age of 10.

Available for adoption through North Shore Animal League America:

Machiavelli
Machiavelli

**Senior Alert**  The team at Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center is so enamored with Machiavelli (adoption #BF3243) they’ve declared him North Shore Animal League America’s No.  1 Bachelor. This suave 15-year-old has them all swooning from all the head butts he offers. His irresistible charm will find him a new family but they need to promise him endless ear rubs. Machiavelli will have no trouble fitting into any home (and any lap.)  Sure he’s got a few medical issues — the usually issues our senior feline friends do — but they are covered by our Medical Center. All you have to worry about is finding enough time in your day to cuddle him!

Tabitha Stevens
Tabitha Stevens

Sensational tortie Tabitha Stevens (adoption #NCI1635) doesn’t need to twitch her nose to get what she wants. All this lovely 3-year-old lady needs is to gaze at you with her big beautiful eyes and the magic between you will begin instantly. You’re going to fall under her spell from your first hello. Tabitha came to us from our shelter partner upstate and has had experience with feline friends and calm canine friends, so she’d be a wonderful addition to any family.

Larry David
Larry David

A true gentleman, Larry David (adoption # R166958) is pretty, pretty, pretty awesome.  Unlike his namesake, this 2-year-old has impeccable manners and will make a wonderful impression at your next dinner party. You’ll need to curb your enthusiasm when you meet him because he’s simply too sweet to be believed. Larry would do best in a home with feline-experienced adults (and children 8+ in age).

Martin Short
Martin Short

Shy guy Martin Short (adoption #H210666) tries very hard to put his best paw forward and make a lasting impression (beginning with his unique meow) in the hopes you’ll lead him home. Martin has put the first year of his life on the local streets behind him and now looks forward to spending the rest of his life in a quiet home. You provide the ear rubs and Martin Short will provide the smiles.

Grape
Grape

After spending his young life on the local streets, Grape (adoption #H210667) has settled into the safety of Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center and beginning to understand how great things are becoming for him. This sweet, 1-year-old male tabby’s big eyes are taking in all of the rapid changes to his life, and his nose is waiting to be booped.

Available for adoption at the Town of Smithtown Animal Shelter:

Parker
Parker

Meet the Smithtown Animal Shelter’s Pet of the Week, a little guy who has been through the ringer, Parker. Parker is an 8-year-old Male Chihuahua Mix. Sadly, he is a COVID-19 orphan who lost his owner to the disease two months ago. His 2 geriatric doggy siblings went into foster care, while Parker was brought to the Animal Shelter. Parker is an absolute love mush who loves all people, and most other dogs and cats! Parker has a heart murmur that currently does not require any medications, but this may change in the future. Parker does have food aggression, so he cannot be placed in a home with small children. It may require a bit of extra attention and care to meet all of Parker’s needs, but the extra work is worth it when he snuggles up with you. Parker has been through a lot in his little life, and all he wants is love, attention and a comfy lap to sleep on. We know his hero and forever home is out there for him somewhere.

If you are interested in meeting Parker, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with him in a domestic setting, which includes the Meet and Greet Room, dog runs, and Dog Walk trail. Family Pet Meet and Greets and at home interactions are also welcome and an integral part of the adoption process. 631-360-7575.

COVID-19: Foster Opportunity: Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Smithtown Animal Shelter has had to restrict public access, including loyal volunteers. If you have no other pets or young children at home and are looking for a way to serve your community in this time of crisis, please consider signing up to be a foster. Foster parents provide temporary care for cats, kittens, and dogs in their own homes. Some animals need as little as two weeks of care, while others may need care for extended periods of time. Available for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:

Beauty
Beauty

Beauty is about 3 years old and came to the shelter as a stray in March 2019. She was found loose on the streets by a good Samaritan who took her into their home for a few weeks. They ultimately decided they couldn’t keep her and brought her to the shelter. No original owner was found, so now Beauty awaits her future forever family to come find her. Beauty is very nervous at the shelter but she does love to see her buddies and is more happy and calm with the people she knows. Beauty needs a solo pet home. If you are interested in learning more please call the shelter at 516-785-5220, visit 3320 Beltagh Ave. in Wantaghor email adoption@tohmail.org

FOSTER OPPORTUNITY: If you’re cooped up at home, remember that cats and dogs are feeling the same way in their cages at the shelter. If you can open your home to a deserving animal by fostering (or adopting), please call for more information at 516-785-5220 or email  adoption@tohmail.org
