The following is an update from Mayor Ralph Ekstrand

We hope everyone is well and staying safe and are looking forward to moving into the phase 2 re-opening of the Long Island region, expected to be Wednesday, June 10. The return of many retail stores, outdoor dining, hair salons/barber shops, medical practices, and others in phase 2 will have new protocols for public health and safety. We will adapt to the ongoing phased-in openings and “new normal” as we move ahead to brighter days!

As a reminder, Nassau County has many resources listed on their website – here are a couple of helpful links: Covid-19 information, Re-opening Nassau County.

A few updates/reminders:

On behalf of Village Taxpayers, I recently announced the recent approval from Governor Cuomo through executive order 202.36 to extend the payment of Farmingdale Village Taxes for 21 Days without penalty. Village Taxes, normally due by July 1 each year, can now be paid until the close of business on July 22, 2020 without penalty.

As previously announced, parking lot 4 is officially open – this is the lot behind the Fire Department, Dark Horse, and The Nutty Irishman. Additionally, Village employee parking passes are extended for 90 days.

The Farmingdale Fire Department’s Annual Spring Street Fair/Medieval History Day (Cultural Arts Committee) is canceled due to the pandemic. However the weekly Farmers Market On the Village Green, by Schneider’s farm, starts this Sunday, June 7, from 10 am – 3 pm, weather permitting, with social distancing – face coverings/masks are required.
As Main Streets throughout Long Island get ready to re-open according to the phased in protocols, Farmingdale Village will be ready to open. The Board of Trustees and myself are working with the downtown merchants on a re-opening plan within the requirements set forth by Governor Cuomo and County officials. The Village is planning additional outdoor dining capacity for Fridays and Saturdays to add outdoor dining space downtown while also meeting the 6-foot distancing requirements at eateries. Contact the eateries directly for reservations as the eateries open for outdoor dining. We look forward to the re-opening of Farmingdale Village and thank everyone for their support and compliance with health and safety protocols during this crisis.

Thank you Servpro of Farmingdale/ Massapequa for volunteering to clean/disinfect Farmingdale Village Hall, providing a safe work environment – safe public space for our re-opening. Servpro also volunteered to clean/disinfect the Village Fire House – both were completed last week! Thank you so much Servpro for your generosity during this unprecedented crisis – your services are truly appreciated!!

Please continue to shop local and support the Village merchants – check their websites, social media or call them to confirm operating hours, place orders, for reservations, and further information. We thank everyone for their cooperation throughout the pandemic and remember to practice social distancing and wear face coverings in public for health and safety.
