Dear Residents,
The Mayor and the Board of Trustees have been reviewing the plan to re-open Village Hall and the commencement of in-person Public Hearings and Board Meetings in consultation with our Village Attorney and in accordance with NY State guidelines and restrictions.You will receive further communication very soon once the plan is approved.
This email is to provide an update regarding the Democratic Primary Election scheduled for Tue. June 23, 2020. The Board of Elections will utilize Plandome Village Hall for the Democratic Congressional and Presidential Primary Election on June 23. Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.
I spoke to the Board of Elections and they confirmed they are fully prepared to adhere to the required COVID19 precautions – and they are responsible for the election process.
Board of Elections (BOE) responsibilities and voting guidelines:
- BOE mailed an application for absentee ballots to every eligible registered Democrat. If you did not receive an application, please call the BOE office.
- Early voting commences June 13 for 9 days and the Village of Plandome is not an early voting location.
Election Day – June 23:
- BOE provides the election staff and Election Inspectors. Plandome village employees are not involved.
- Only 10 voters allowed in Village Hall at once, BOE will set up six-feet safe distance guidelines within building and monitor.
- BOE will send a professional cleaning staff to sanitize Village Hall before and after the election.
- Voters are required to wear masks.

As of the writing of this memo the Village Clerk’s office is still closed to the public. But for now please continue to drop off any tax payments or other payments or applications in the mail bin. We will send a receipt upon request.

Plandome Village Election for three Trustees is confirmed for Tuesday, Sep. 15, 2020. Polls open from 12 p.m – 9 p.m. Another Public Notice with candidates names will be published again by the end of August 2020. Additional email reminders will follow closer to Election day. Every vote matters!
