Cats, Dogs At Long Island Shelters Looking For Forever Homes

pjimage – 2020-07-24T120546.377

Long Island animal shelters and rescues have it all, from tiny kittens to stunning German Shepherds. The one thing they all have in common: they are all ready to start the next chapter of their lives in a new forever home.

Available for adoption at Last Hope Animal Rescue:

Simply put, Nyxi is looking for someone who treasures and understands German Shepherds. Nyxi is a 7-month-old puppy saved from horrendous living conditions. Seized by Animal Control for lack of water and sustenance, covered with more than 100 blood-engorged ticks. Despite prior mistreatment Nyxi is good with older kids, just no cats. She weighs in at about 47 pounds but is still growing. In her former life she lived with people who didn’t deserve her, and will now do best with owners who grasp the German Shepherd psyche to help her fulfill her potential in a positive way.  You’ll find more information and an adoption application for Nyxi on Last Hope’s webpage at lasthopeanimalrescue.org

Available for adoption through North Shore Animal League America:

Trebek
Trebek

We’ve had a lot of questions for 6-year-old Trebek (Adoption #H207860) that only he can answer, and lately he’s begun to offer some clues as to how we can ensure his happiness. Given him plenty of time he needed to relearn trusting humans, he’s experiencing a refreshing change in his spirit lately. Introductions to new friends in a quiet space have highlighted a more playful side to this typically shy fellow. It’s warmed everyone’s hearts to see him join in on some fun and games with his feline friends. While strangers still make Trebek feel in “Jeopardy,” a quiet, cat-experienced home with children 16 and older in age will help him become a champion. A confident cat in the home eager to tutor him about his new life will help as he seeks his new beginning.

Kali
Kali

NSALA’s friends from the Animal Care Center alerted them to a young trauma victim who survived a fall from a 6th floor window in Brooklyn. Kali (Adoption #MA4372) would need surgery immediately to address the leg injury she sustained. The heroes scooped her up and addressed her medical needs immediately. Thanks to generous donations from our Help Me Heal campaign, Kali’s injury is a thing of the past, and now we’re planning her future. Kali will benefit from more physical activity, but for now we are happy to see her settling into Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center. No one can blame this tender, 3-year-old tuxie for feeling a little shy about the rapid changes she’s experienced recently, but her blinking eyes tell us she knows the 8 lives she has left are going to be awesome because she will be safe and loved inside with her family.

Scooter
Scooter

When Scooter’s (Adoption #BF3283) rescuer discovered him in distress on the local streets, she delivered him to the safety of Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center assuring him a better future. Scooter’s pawsitive cattitude has everyone inspired by his can-do spirit. His hind limb paralysis isn’t standing in his way of making sure he crawls straight into your heart. To make his dream of a real home come true, Scooter has been welcomed into NSALA’s Sponsor Program where his medical needs will be covered through our Pet Health Center. His new family will share our vision of ensuring maximum health and happiness for this sweet 3-year-old boy who wants nothing more than to be in the loving arms of his special humans. Could that be you?

Willy
Willy

When NSALA’s friends at their North Country Initiative program reached out for our help with a striking 10-year-old gent, North Shore Animal League America’s Medical Team came to the rescue! Wonderful Willy (Adoption #NCI1649) had lost his upstate home and needed help with chronic ear infections. Together all teams have worked on a plan to relieve this treasure of all of his obstacles so he enjoy healthy, carefree years ahead. So far, Willy has been thrilling legions of fans in each shelter. Staff and volunteers can only imagine how delighted he’ll be to be back in a home with a devoted family. Don’t make Willy wait another moment to win your heart. You and Willy will make an unbeatable team!

Sweet Daisy Bates (Adoption H210069) has settled into her comfy bed while figuring out what’s next for her. This shy kitten needs a gentle human to remind her she can leave her days in the harsh outside world behind now that she’s safe inside. Next stop: a furrrever home.  You’ll find it very easy to win this 11-month-old tabby over with an ear rub and some kindness. With just a little patience, you’ll find Daisy Bates easily slipping into your heart where she’ll settle in for a lifetime.
