Downtown Merchant Update

Congratulations to Step by Step Dance Studio, celebrating 32 years and relocating to 248 Main St. Congratulations to Lorraine DiCarlo, celebrating the official grand opening of The Vintage Canvas art studio along Vintage Row on Main Street, with the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce. What a fabulous addition to our downtown.

The Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce also held a one-year anniversary ribbon cutting/celebration at 317 Main St. The celebration was postponed from March due to the coronavirus and we are so fortunate, not only for the delicious food, part of the Culinary Quarter downtown, but also to have such great community supporters, congratulations Joe Fortuna and Eric LeVine—and thanks for all of your contributions.
On behalf of the board of trustees and myself, we welcome students back to school throughout Farmingdale. Thanks to all that recently donated school supplies to help locals in our community. Also our food collection box is at village hall for those can donate non-perishable food to help locals in need in the community. Donations can be dropped off from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at village hall.

Another big source of pride, Farmingdale Village has been the recipient of several awards since 2012. They include:
· 2012—American Institute of Architects LI Chapter: Legislative Award
· 2014—Housing Leadership Award: Long Island Housing Partnership
· 2014—Top Smart Growth Project: “Outstanding Achievements” Award, Jefferson Plaza/VOF
· 2015—Smart Growth Award—Mixed Use—The Loft On Main: Annual Smart Growth
· 2016—LI Smart Growth Award
· 2019—Smart Growth Award—Regional Leadership Award to Terwilliger & Bartone Properties: Jefferson Plaza
· 2019—As president of the Nassau County Village Officials Association (NCVOA) accepted Vision Long Island Award for NCVOA work done to help manage and enhance local downtown areas

· Village of Farmingdale—Voted Best Downtown: 2015 through 2018, 2020—Best of Long Island

Of course, there have also been many grants which we have used to enhance many aspects of the village. All this clearly represents the teamwork that exists with our many local and state elected officials. On behalf of myself and the village board, we thank you as well for your support.

Thank you everyone for following the guidelines in our village. The restaurants and businesses have been very cooperative with enforcing the regulations in their establishments. We know it’s been a challenge; but from what the data shows, everything we are doing seems to be helping.

On behalf of the Farmingdale Village Board of Trustees and myself, we thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation during this crisis, stay safe and healthy – brighter days are ahead.
The village website is a great resource so check www.farmingdalevillage.com often for information, news and bulletins.
