I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Manhasset Board of Education. I will be running for one of the two board seats available and hope that on Tuesday, May 18, you will cast one of your votes for me, Jill Pullano.
Based on my experience raising three children in our schools, I have learned what really makes up the high-quality, Manhasset education experience. I understand what our children need to achieve success and am in touch with what parents expect from our schools. I have firsthand experience in collaborating with the community, the administration, and the school board and, most importantly, in advocating for our children.
I graduated from SUNY Albany with a BS in Accounting and earned my MBA at New York University with a dual concentration in Finance and Management. I am a certified public accountant and worked at the Dreyfus Corporation for many years where I held roles in corporate Aaccounting as well as product development. In 2003 my husband, Chris, and I moved to Manhasset to raise our family. Our older son, Matthew (MHS 2017), is graduating next month from Cornell University. Our daughter, Nicole (MHS 2020), is a freshman at Syracuse University. And our younger son, Steven (MHS 2022), is currently a junior at Manhasset High School.
Since coming to Manhasset, I have been active in the school community and have always supported our students. I have served on the SCA Executive Board as both Executive Treasurer and Executive Secretary. I have also served as a Room Parent for each grade in the elementary school and served as a Grade Level Chairperson at Munsey Park Elementary, the Middle School and the High School. In addition, I have held many other SCA roles, including Webmaster, Munsey Park Finance Chair and Educational Grants Co-chair, as well as served on numerous committees such as Senior Frolic, SCA Fair, Staff Appreciation Luncheon, Book Fair, Photo Day and the SCA By-Laws Revisions Committee, among others. I was also a member of the Munsey Park School Safety Committee, where I worked closely with building administration and local law enforcement to ensure that our building was safe and secure for our children and staff.
In our community, I’ve been actively involved with the Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer, serving for four years as a Junior Coalition Grade Level Advisor for the MHS Class of 2020. In addition, I’ve managed my son’s BU-11 Manhasset Soccer team as well as his St. Mary’s CYO High School Basketball team.
I have learned a tremendous amount over 18 years of supporting our students and working with members of our community. I have worked to ensure that our schools provide every student with the tools they need to succeed. I have also learned that it is imperative that the community’s voice is represented on the school board. I strongly believe I am the most qualified person to be that voice, so I hope you will vote for me on Tuesday, May 18.
