5 Veterans Day Events Honoring Military on Long Island

VETERANS DAY CEREMONY AT STONY BROOK

Stony Brook University will hold a ceremony honoring veterans featuring performances from the Stony Brook Marching Band along with a Presentation of Colors from the ROTC Culper Battalion. Ismael Rodriguez, an eight-year combat veteran and director of the school’s Military and Veterans Affairs, will be the keynote speaker. VETERANS DAY SUPPLY DRIVE

Girl Scout Service Unit 48 will collect supplies for veterans in need. There is also an Amazon wishlist for those who would like to donate but cannot participate in person. AMERICAN LEGION OF GARDEN CITY CEREMONY

The Village of Garden City and the William Bradford Turner Post of the American Legion of Garden City hosts their annual Veterans Day ceremony. Attendees will receive poppies in honor of veterans. Garden City War Memorial, 45 7th St, Garden City. facebook.com/events 10:45 a.m. Nov. 11

MONTAUK PLAYHOUSE FLAG CEREMONY

The Montauk Playhouse Community Center Foundation (MPCCF) welcomes vets and the entire community to its annual Veterans Day flag ceremony. It will begin at the Suzanne Koch Gosman Flagpole Garden at the Montauk Playhouse Community Center and will feature the raising of the flag, a wreath laying ceremony by local Boy Scouts and Brownie troops, and remarks by MPCCF Chairman Perry B. VETERANS DAY FUNDRAISER

Hooks for Heroes will hold its 6th annual Veterans Day fundraiser, which will feature a performance by the FDNY Pipes & Drum band, a color guard ceremony, and DJ, plus awesome raffle prizes.
