Miracle Mop Inventor Joy Mangano’s St. James Mansion Asks $20M

Joy Mangano, the 66-year-old inventor known for her self-wringing Miracle Mop and velvet Huggable Hangers, has put her St. James mansion on the market.

Known as Swan Manor, the massive home at 1 Swan Pl. is 22,000 square feet and situated on a private, 9-acre plot of land with views of the Long Island Sound. According to a Wall Street Journal article, Mangano has owned the property since 2000. She spent millions of dollars renovating the mansion, which remains pristine and spotless inside and out. It was originally built in 1917.

The article also mentions that the home’s closets gave inspiration for Mangano’s famous Huggable Hangers. The famous inventor has sold about $3 billion worth of products on television. Movie star Jennifer Lawrence played the role of Mangano in a 2015 film based on her life.

Swan Manor has three structures and a total of 14 bedrooms, 14 full bathrooms, and one half bathroom. The main house has oversized bedrooms, a library room, a home office, a two-level kitchen, a dining room, a gym, walk-in closets, fireplaces, guest quarters, and more.

Other notable amenities in this glamorous home include an indoor pool with changing rooms, a massage room, a sauna, and a tennis court. There are also four garage spaces and expansive lawns that have been well-maintained by professionals.

The property is located in the Smithtown School District and in close proximity to local beaches, shopping, restaurants, and transportation.

The asking price is $20,000,000, not including the annual property tax of $71,554.
