The American Cancer Society announced two local honorees for the 2022 Red, White and Blue Summer Bash held at the Crescent Beach Club in Bayville on June 15.

Corporate honoree is Kim Poulos Lieberz, the CEO and Chief Creative Officer of KGI Design Group. KGI is a NYC and NYS certified WBE, woman-owned creative agency, which has been creating multi-media strategically branded marketing and rendering solutions for more than 28 years.

Along with her impressive repertoire of design book publications and awards, Lieberz firmly believes in giving back to the Long Island community and with KGI, donates funds and services to many nonprofits. She has been a leader of Long Island veteran events, a supporter of the Rett syndrome community since 1994, an emcee for St. Baldricks, and has been working with the American Cancer Society on multiple distinguished events for the past seven years.

In addition to her work in the community, Lieberz is the creator and owner of BarnyardLAneSignCo.com and a founding board member of the interior design industry not-for-profit DesignGivers.org. Kim lives in Farmingdale with her husband of 30 years and their dog Macy, and is a mother of two sons.

Humanitarian honoree is Angela Calvo, a creative marketing enthusiast who has served the Long Island community with her hard work and dedication to many companies for decades. She has always been passionate about giving back to those who are in need, working with many local and national organizations through her career and personal endeavors.

One of Calvo’s points of pride was the creation and implementation of the Champion Energy Give Back Program, which supported many initiatives including local health organizations. Other organizations that she holds close to her heart are the Michael Magro Foundation, Book Fairies, Pinktie.org, Stony Brook Children’s Hospital, God’s Blessings Plan, Maria Regina Roman Catholic Church, and many more.

In April 2021, Calvo was diagnosed with Stage 4 Brain and Lung cancer. As she continues to conquer her battle, Calvo remains a force of inspiration through her positivity, energy, and sense of humor. She is a mother of two daughters.

This event was driven by an executive committee of passionate community professionals who use their voices to help raise awareness, their time to volunteer, and to fundraise with the end goal of making an impact to help progress the challenge of finding a cure for cancer.
