Seeing Double: Long Island Pets in Pairs Available for Adoption

Dogs and cats are typically social animals, and when they find a bestie, they thrive in pairs. We’ve got lots of double adoptions available this week, so if you can open your heart and home to a dynamic duo (or if you prefer a single guy or gal), we got you covered!

Available for adoption at North Shore Animal League America

Esme and Eagan
Esme and Eagan

**Double Adoption** After being rescued off the local streets, Esme (Adoption #BF3765) and Eagan (Adoption #BF3766) needed a little tender, loving care. They’ve enjoyed time together in a peaceful room in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center and everyone is thrilled with the quick progress they’ve made! Formerly fearful Eagan is completely open to love and attention from cats and people alike. You’ll find her cuddling in a ray of sunlight with any of her friends, but she’ll follow you for her helping of treats. Esme has always been the more playful of the two. She’s still a little shy about lots of human attention which is why they’re looking for a home with children over age 12 and adults experienced in nurturing the fear from timid felines. You’re going to be just as smitten as we are as you watch these closely bonded 1-year-old sisters discover the wonders of being members of a family at last!

Mercury and Mars
Mercury and Mars

When 1-year-olds Mercury (Adoption #H211412) and Mars (Adoption #H211413) were orbiting around someone’s backyard last fall, they had no idea how safe their landing was to be. This timid pair of devoted siblings has leaned heavily upon each other as they learn about life in an indoor galaxy. North Shore Animal League’s loving team has given them time and attention in a quiet place where they’ve learned all about trust—and treats! Now they’re looking to launch them into a furever universe: your home! If you’ve had cats before, you’ll see how love and patience is all that’s needed to coax them into exploring your living room. A family (with children over 12) will provide them the kind of predictable setting in which they’ve found so much success in in our care. Want to discover Mars and Mercury for yourself? Ask about meeting them today!

Alutia
Alutia

When 1-year-old Alutia (Adoption #G26629) first arrived, she was unsure of her new situation and hid in cubbies to avoid altercations. Time in a quiet, sunny room in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center has smoothed out all the worries from her beautiful brow, and what’s left is a dedicated companion, eager to greet you at the door, hopeful your hands have time for rubs and treats. Alutia is being treated for chronic rhinitis (a covered medical condition through our Pet Health Centers.) A family with children over age 12 and experience in soothing a sensitive soul will pave the way for success. She’s drawn to the calm energy of her roommates and will enjoy a tranquil home. If you’ve got a peaceful spot by a window for her to adorn, you’ll have completed her rescue story and begun a love story of your own.

Chirp
Chirp

It’s not easy being Chirp (Adoption #H211279)! This locally rescued 11-month-old kitten needed reassurance he’s in good hands. A steady flow of treats made him feel like maybe his new, safe life is better after all. Now he’s the leader of his clowder, chirping around during playtime, first in line for treats. Oh, the magic of patience! Chirp has grown into potential best friend material for your cat at home. To continue building his confidence, he’s looking for a home with considerate children above age 12 and adults experienced with reading his clear body language. Making him feel understood is a great way to build trust in him, and once he’s given you that part of his heart, you’ll have a grateful friend to cherish furever!

Fred and George
Fred and George

**Double Adoption** Animal League America recently welcomed 3-month-olds Fred (Adoption #H211289) and George (Adoption #H211290) into their family when their local rescuer brought them in for a safer life. While life on the streets is hard for kittens, getting used to indoor life has them cautiously optimistic that things may be working out for them. You’ll find them zooming around their room, playing with all the toys, but not quite used to human hands interrupting playtime for pets. That’s why a quiet, predicable home (with kids over age 8 and experienced adults) will help them settle into family life. With a little nurturing, you’ll be rewarded with some gentle head bumps and a ton of gratitude!

Blanquito and
Blanquito and Lynxy

**Double Adoption** Four-month-old brothers Blanquito (Adoption #H211361) and Lynxy (Adoption #H211362) had a rough start living outdoors in Queens, but fortunately a wonderful volunteer hero secured them a spot in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center, guaranteeing them a brighter future. Blanquito is super happy about this turn of events, while his more fearful brother Lynxy is learning a lot from watching Blanquito’s enthusiasm. It’s predicted as long as they have each other—and you—their fresh start will lead them to the happily ever after they’ve always deserved!

Thomas and Simon
Thomas and Simon

**Double Adoption** When Thomas (Adoption #BF3704) and Simon’s (Adoption #BF3707) owner became ill, they found themselves needing help. Animal League America is happy to make room for them in Bianca’s Furry Friends Feline Adoption Center while they search together for a more permanent solution to their problem. While these shy 1-year-old boys are working out the changes in their life, they’re here to make sure their next family will love them as much as their first one did. Some gentle purrsuasion is all it will take to win Thomas and Simon over.

Melody
Melody

While losing her home has left 2-year-old Melody (Adoption #LA0351) feeling uncertain, her triumphant spirit encourages her to keep looking for the bright side of life. You’ll find this glorious long-haired beauty singing a new song when she feels connected to your gentle hand and kindness. Melody has an open heart for whatever future awaits her.

Available for adoption at the Smithtown Animal Shelter

Reilly and DJ
Reilly and DJ

**Double Adoption** Reilly (Orange Tabby) and DJ (Black) are a pair of 3-year-old Domestic Shorthair brothers who absolutely adore each other. They arrived at the Animal Shelter after their mom passed away. DJ loves to get attention from people and is very outgoing and vocal. Reilly takes a little bit of time to get used to people, but once he does, he’ll curl up on your lap to get some affection. Reilly and DJ get along well with other cats, but they would prefer a home without children. While we would love to see them go to the same home, they can be separated if need be.

If you are interested in meeting this dynamic duo, please call ahead to schedule an hour to properly interact with them in a domestic setting, which includes the shelter’s Meet and Greet Room. 631-360-7575.

Available for adoption through Ruff House Rescue

Benjamin
Benjamin
