The owners of a New Hyde Park gas station are “pumping out” all the support this July 4 weekend and through the end of the year by donating a portion of the proceeds of a specially branded gas pump to Ronald McDonald House Charities NY Metro (RMHC NYM).

Channi Singh, owner of the BP gas station located at 77-40 Hewlett Street in New Hyde Park (corner of Lakeville Rd. and Union Turnpike), had one of his gas pumps specially wrapped with the RMHC NYM logo and artwork. Singh will donate one penny per gallon of all gas sold at that pump through Dec. 31, 2023.

“We want people to fill up at this pump every time they buy gas, so we can donate as much as possible to help the families of children in the hospital,” said Singh. “Parents of sick kids should not have to worry about where they will sleep or eat. Ronald McDonald House Charities NY Metro takes that worry away.”

This is the second time that Singh is mounting the fundraising effort, in the hope that summer drivers, including those through the long July 4th weekend and Labor Day will support the effort. In 2019, the first year of the promotion, Singh donated $10,000 to RMHC NYM.

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), is a nonprofit corporation that creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families.

“We’re here to support the families of children in medical crisis, whether an emergency or for long term, scheduled treatment,” said Matt Campo, CEO of RMHC NYM. “It’s people like Channi who volunteer to help in the way they best know how that makes the difference for the families we serve and the work we do. We are so grateful.”
