The 18th Annual Friends of Sunrise event, hosted by the Sunrise Association, raised over $882,000 to support children with cancer.
Held on May 2 at the Glen Head Country Club, the event gathered 350 attendees. Since its inception in 2007, the Friends of Sunrise initiative has raised over $12 million.
The funds support Sunrise Day Camp Long Island and other programs that provide free summer camps, year-round activities, and in-hospital recreational services for children with cancer and their siblings.
The event recognized several individuals for their contributions.
Jill Podell received the Sunrise Champion Award for her long-term advocacy and fundraising efforts.
Mark Stempel and Jennie Katz of Blue Island Homes were awarded the Sunrise Community Partner Award for their dedication and philanthropy.
Caroline Faber was honored with the Sunrise Youth Leadership Award for her volunteer work, including creating craft segments for a video series during the COVID-19 pandemic.
