Schneps Media, the largest local newsgroup in New York State, recently acquired Anton Media Group, the publisher of eight local newspapers in Nassau County.
With the acquisition, Schneps Media President and co-founder Victoria Schneps and Anton Media Group Publisher Angela Anton hosted a luncheon with Anton Media staff, local elected officials, and an array of community leaders to reinforce the company’s commitment to Nassau County news.
The attendees included: New York State Senator for District Seven Jack Martins, Director of Communications for Senator Martins Amanda Martins, the Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jennifer DeSena, Town Clerk Ragini Srivastava, Town’s new Deputy Receiver of Taxes Georgia Gounaris, the Town of North Hempstead District Six Councilwoman Mariann Dalimonte, Legislative Aide to Councilwoman Dalimonte Erin Molyneux, Village of Baxter Estates Mayor Nora Haagenson, Village of Port Washington North Mayor Robert Weitzner, Village of Flower Hill Mayor Randall Rosenbaum, Village of Manorhaven Mayor John Popeleski, Village of Plandome Manor Mayor Barbara Donno, City of Glen Cove Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck, Deputy Mayor Donna McNaughton, Town of Oyster Bay Director of Communications Marta Kane, Communications Director for State Assemblymember Charles Lavine Matt Cantor, President of Mineola Chamber of Commerce and conductor of Nassau Pops Lou Panacciulli and owner of Willows Cove Salon in Mineola Karina Mauro.
Victoria Schneps and Angela Anton took the opportunity to reconnect with Nassau County leaders to discuss important local projects and pressing issues concerning the region.
Victoria’s experience in community news began with one paper, The Queens Courier, which she founded in 1985, before building a company with 100 papers. As the founder of Life’s WORC, a nonprofit organization that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism, Victoria knows about the power of the press.
With the combined dedication to supporting the local community, Victoria and Angela look forward to a new future for the Anton Media papers.
The luncheon allowed the Anton reporters from the Port Washington News, Manhasset Press, Great Neck Record, Roslyn News, Glen Cove/Oyster Bay Record Pilot, Syosset-Jericho Tribune, the Nassau Illustrated News and the Nassau Observer to cement their relationships with community leaders.
From listening and discussing upcoming projects and critical issues, the Anton reporters are focused on providing the Nassau communities with more breaking news, stories featuring local arts and cultural events, and more.
