On June 8, Venchi, the renowned Italian chocolate and gelato maker—which many people know from trips to Italy—opened its first Chocogelateria on Long Island at Roosevelt Field. It is located on the main level in the Macy’s wing across from the Apple Store.
With 145 years of expertise in chocolate making, Venchi’s history dates back to 1878 when Silviano Venchi, a 20-year-old from Turin who loved chocolate, spent his life savings on two bronze cauldrons to experiment with chocolate. For those who appreciate a truly luxurious shopping experience, Venchi’s gorgeous Chocogelateria is second to none.
From the large displays of chocolate bars and Chocoviar wall, to the tables overflowing with Venchi’s beautiful gift boxes, as well as the mouthwatering gelato bar, Venchi’s arrival to share Italian Allegria (joy and happiness) is great news for Long Island foodies.
“When you eat Venchi dark chocolate you can taste the quality immediately,” Gian Luca, Venchi manager said. “We import cocoa to Italy; our chocolates are prepared by hand in Italy and then sent to our stores around the world.”
All Venchi products feature premium, high-quality ingredients like Piedmont hazelnut, green pistachio, almond, and certified cocoa, and are natural with no coloring agents, preservatives, or palm oils. Venchi chocolates contain noble fats such as olive oil and cocoa butter, are gluten-free, and some are vegan-friendly as well; Venchi supports wellbeing and a balanced lifestyle where chocolate can be a daily delight.
“All of our chocolates are gluten-free,” Luca said. “We have a gelato that is dairy free, made with cocoa, sugar and hazelnut, so someone could still enjoy a ‘chocolatey’ gelato.”
Store associates are knowledgeable about Venchi productions and can explain ingredients lists, substitutions and make dietary-restriction suggestions.
Venchi chocolates, include the popular Chocoviar, Gianduiotti, Cremini, and many other products which are all on display in the stunning boutique. Customers can make a Venchi Mix to create their own chocolate assortment from more than 50 different varieties. Venchi also has a selection of attractive boxed chocolates which are the perfect present for every gift-giving occasion.
For those who may have taken a trip to Italy and first experienced Venchi gelato abroad, the new Chocogelateria offers a creative and unique gourmet gelato tasting experience. The gelato is made fresh daily in the store using only the finest genuine and natural ingredients, and crafted following traditional Italian recipes.
Luca said the gelato is, of course, prepared locally with products imported from Italy, except the milk.
“We do not use anything artificial to prepare our gelato,” Luca said. “Gelato is denser than ice cream, but there are less ingredients used in preparation.”
Gelato—there are 24 flavors available daily—can be enjoyed in a cup or gourmet cone which features a rim of Venchi’s hazelnut and chocolate spread dipped in your choice of grains. The gelato can also be blended into a signature Gelatoshake.
Other products available at the Chocogelateria include authentic Italian coffees, hot chocolate, and crepes made with Venchi’s rich and wonderful Piedmont hazelnut and chocolate spread dispensed from a chocolate fountain.
“Venchi is everywhere in Italy, in the airports, train stations and in the center of the cities,” Luca said.
Venchi is an internationally known brand with more than 350 chocolate recipes and 90 gelato flavors.
