A 6-year-old girl was fatally struck by a car while crossing a street in Water Mill over the weekend.

Southampton Town Police said Tess Burstein was walking across Blank Lane when she was hit by a northbound Toyota Prius at 11:19 a.m. Sunday.

The victim was taken to Southampton Hospital and then to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she reportedly died.

The driver, 76-year-old Maurice Wittenberg of Water Mill, and his passenger were not injured.

Detectives impounded the car, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone who may have more information on this crash to call them at 631-702-2230.
