Drop Dead Diva Season 3 Premieres Sunday

Lifetime’s hit show “Drop Dead Diva” is back for another run Sunday night as Season 3 of the comedy finally begins.

And the season premiere even has a couple of special guest, starting with former “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul, who joins the rest of the comedic cast.

The third season opens with Abdul making another appearance as Jane’s voice of reason.  During the premiere she will give Jane advice about her relationship with the character Grayson Kent.

Also making an appearance is newly married country music star LeAnn Rimes as she guest stars as the estranged soon-to-be ex-wife of an immature movie star who is on trial.  Jane takes up the hit-and-run case.

Rimes just recently married actor Eddie Cibrian back in April.

But that’s not all for the celebrities.

Talk show host, Wendy Williams, and actor Mario Lopez will guest star.

The show will also feature a choreographed dance created by “So You Think You Can Dance” judge and choreographer “Tyce” Diorio.

“Drop Dead Diva” stars Brooke Elliott (Jane Bingum), April Bowlby (Stacy Barrett), Margaret Cho (Teri Lee), Ben Feldman (Fred) and Jackson Hurst (Grayson Kent).

Elliott’s character, Jane, is a little different from other characters. She is a brilliant attorney who has the spirit of a shallow wannabe model inside of her.

Throughout her career, Elliott has done more than just television.  She starred on Broadway in “The Pirate Queen,” as well as in the musical “Taboo.”  Elliott was also involved in some other high profile shows, “Beauty and the Beast” and “Wicked.”

“Drop Dead Diva” first hit Lifetime in 2009.

The show is on Sunday at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.
