Cops: Man Shot in Hempstead, Crashes Into House, Dies

A 30-year-old man shot in Hempstead Friday night was pronounced dead at a local hospital after crashing a mid-size SUV into a house, Nassau County police said.

Gerraud Hill, of Malverne, was shot on Chase Street just before 11 p.m., police said. He then drove away in a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse and crashed into a house on Rose Avenue, police said. No one inside the home was injured, but the crash did cause structural damage, police said.

The victim was transported to Mercy Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:28 p.m., police said.
