Westfield South Shore and Suffolk County Police Department have partnered to host a prescription drug disposal event, “Operation Medicine Cabinet,” at the mall in Bay Shore on Sept. 8.

Anyone can go to the mall’s dining court and safely dispose of expired or unwanted prescription drugs in an effort to keep seniors, kids, pets, and the environment safe. Residents are encouraged to clean out their medicine cabinets and participate.

Medications must be placed in a plastic bag prior to disposal. Drug drop-off is completely anonymous. Needles and liquid medications will not be accepted.

Those who cannot attend the event can drop off medications any time, 24 hours a day, at any Suffolk County Police Department precinct.

“Operation Medicine Cabinet” will take place at Westfield South Shore, 1701 Bay Shore Hwy., Bay Shore, in the dining hall, on Sept. 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
