Suffolk County Police are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist Saturday July 30 in Dix Hills.
Gerard Pomato, 45, was operating a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on the Long Island Expressway when a Mazda being driven by Michael Milner, 59, changed lanes and struck the motorcycle east of Exit 50 at 5:33 p.m.
Pomato, of Coram, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Milner, of Jericho, was not injured in the crash.
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed this crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
