Matt Bomber Confirms He’s Gay

Picture 55“White Collar” star Matt Bomer made a shocking announcement today: he’s gay.

Bomer confirmed his sexual orientation during an acceptance speech at the Steve Chase Humanitarian Awards Saturday.

“I’d really especially like to thank my beautiful family: Simon, Kit, Walker, Henry,” he told the audience as he accepted the New Generation Arts and Activism Award, according to Us Weekly.

“Thank you for teaching me what unconditional love is. You will always be my proudest accomplishment.”

According to NY Daily News, Simon Halls, Bomer’s partner is Slate PR publicist.

Halls represents openly gay actors Ryan Murphy and Neil Patrick Harris.

Although rumors about the actor, 34, have been circulating about his sexuality since he first stepped into the spotlight, he never openly confronted them. It was not until began his work fighting against HIV/AIDS that probably helped him make the decision to “come out.”

“My world has really been rocked by doing research for ‘Normal Heart,’ just in terms of the history of HIV and AIDS,” he said to US Weekly when he was speaking about his upcoming role in the Larry Kramer’s adaptation of the movie.

He continued, “And so I’m very proud to receive this award from an organization that is at the forefront of carrying the torch into a very, very bright future.”

Bomer will be starring a few films in the upcoming years. In addition to seeing Bomer in “Normal Heart,” we will also get to see him play a role as a male stripper in film “Magic Mike,” also starting hunk Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer.

In a 2010 interview with Details, the dapper star addressed the rumors about his sexuality, but never outright denied speculations.

“I don’t care about that at all,” he’d told US Weekly. “I’m completely happy and fulfilled in my personal life.”
