A Calverton man is wanted by police for stabbing his 23-year-old girlfriend at Tanger Outlets in Riverhead and forcing her into his car as he fled before she escaped, authorities said.

The victim sought help from a residence on Midway Drive and was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of multiple stab wounds shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday, Riverhead Town Police said.

The suspect, 24-year-old Paul Thompson Jr., fled the scene on foot, police said. He is known to have ties to the Mastic Beach area.

Riverhead police ask anyone with information about his whereabouts to call them at 631-727-4500 ext. 289.
