Victory Recovery Partners opened its first outpatient addiction treatment center in Farmingville on Wednesday, the first of multiple sites the company plans open to on Long Island.
The locally based company founded last year held its grand opening now that the New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services designated VRP as an OASAS Addiction Treatment Center, one of a dozen statewide. The center will offer patients access to medication assisted treatment for individuals with opioid use disorders.
“While there exists widespread awareness of the opioid crisis, sadly, most people afflicted by it are unable to access effective, convenient medical care,” said Dr. Paolo Coppola, the board-certified addiction medicine specialist and CEO of VRP, which he co-founded. “Right here in our own local community, drug overdoses are responsible for, on average, about one death every day.”
Coppola cited statistics showing less than 20 percent of opioid addicts as having obtained treatment for their condition.
VRP’s staff, which is experienced in addiction medicine, emergency medicine, social work, and psychiatric therapy, uses FDA-approved medications such as Buprenorphine (Suboxone), Sublocade and Vivitrol®, combined with behavioral health therapy, and psychiatric services.
Local and state experts have found that the combination of approaches has been proven to be most effective.
“We formed VRP to provide best-in-class care through a unique combination of medication assisted treatment … using Suboxone and similar prescriptions, and behavioral health therapy, all under one roof,” he explained.
