From the cheeses and breads to traditional ratatouille dish — not to mention eclairs and macaroons for desserts — French food is magnifique, no? But what is the Best French Restaurant on Long Island?

Long Islanders voted Bistro Cassis the Best French Restaurant on Long Island in the 2022 Bethpage Best of Long Island contest!

Fans of fine French dining have long been attracted to the authentic dishes served up at Bistro Cassis in Huntington. When he opened it, Fabio Machado drew upon traditional French chefs and recipes.

Signature dishes include mussels served three different ways: Mariniere, with white wine and fresh herbs; Provencale, with fresh tomatoes and roasted garlic; and Pernod, with fennel and cream. Diners can opt for a half portion or full one, with or without pommes frites (French fries).

Salad choices include a classic Frisee Aux Lardons, with Frisee lettuce, a poached egg and bacon. Those and other standout French dishes, including Steak Frites and Steak Au Poivre, are complemented by fine wine options including selections from France.

Bon appétit!
