Flood Advisory, Heavy Rain To Return To Long Island Early Friday

Forecast

Although Long Island had a brief reprieve from rain this week, Thursday night and Friday are expected to be stormy, with a flood advisory going into effect at 2 a.m. on Friday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

“We have a flood watch that goes into effect at 2 a.m. tonight,” the NWS said. “It will run through Friday night and ends at 6 a.m. on Saturday morning. We’re basically looking at a steady rain with potentially heavy rainfall at times could cause some flooding.”

Although Saturday will be cloudy, the rain should end on Saturday morning, and skies should be clear by the evening.

Temperatures will be in the 60s on Friday and Saturday due to the rain.

Fortunately, it’s not time to cancel weekend fall festival plans yet, because Sunday should be bright and sunny with a temperature in the 70s, the NWS told the Press.
