Usually when a couple gets a divorce it’s all doom and gloom.  They argue and accuse each other of wrongdoings, and all the while make a fool out of themselves.

Well, this next celebrity divorce is a little different. Former White Stripes musician Jack White and his wife Karen Elson announced they will be getting a divorce, and are throwing a party to celebrate.

“We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee,” the couple said in a statement.  “We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow.”

According to a LA Weekly blog, the couple sent out an invitation to friends that states they will be hosting a party to “celebrate their 6th anniversary and their upcoming divorce with a positive swing bang hum dinger,” in Nashville, Tenn.

The invitation continues: “The party will include dancing, photos, memories and drinks with alcohol in them.” The divorce party is only for close personal friends and family, so it doesn’t look like just anyone can take part in the fun.

The pair got married in South America in 2005, and are the parents of two children, Scarlett and Henry Lee.

The White Stripes—made up of White and his ex-wife Meg White— officially broke up earlier this year.

According to the Hollywood Reporter White and Elson first met when the model appeared in a White Stripes music video.

The couple concludes their invitation saying: “Please help us celebrate together, this anniversary of the making and breaking of the sacred union of marriage with our best friends and animals.”
