Top Ten Tuesday is dedicated to top ten everythings in various categories. Every week the Long Island Press will be updating you with a new list ranging from this week’s Top Ten Movies Filmed On Long Island to Top Ten Crimes to take place on Long Island.

We kick off our very first Top Ten list with Movies Filmed On Long Island.

Long Island has a reputation for being a popular filming destination. Over the years, it has built quite the impressive resume with some of the greatest movies of all time including “The Godfather” and “Goodfellas” using Long Island in its scenes.

Forgetting the Hollywood sets and moving massive crews to the little New York Island seems like a big production, but thanks to old world vintage mansions and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, sometimes the real thing is better than any set, and Long Island proves to be worth the travel cost!

This week seemed very fitting to feature films on Long Island because the Long Island International Film Expo is taking place too! It will be held at the Bellmore Movies from July 8th to July 14th. Hitting the expo, are a number of films including “The Absence” a 29-minute student film that takes place in Southhold, Montauk, Huntington and Los Angeles. The movie is about a corporate bureaucrat is sent to a mysterious town, where he confronts the devastating consequences of his work and must choose whether to continue to obey his messianic boss.
