Charlie Sheen is “winning!” The star announced Monday that he will return to television soon in a new comedy “Anger Management,” based on the 2003 movie with Adam Sandler.

The film revolved around a character who is forced into anger management counseling yet upon meeting his instructor realizes the instructor is even more in need of anger management than himself.

According to Yahoo News, Sheen will tackle the role that Sandler took in the film. Sheen told reporters “I chose ‘Anger Management’ because, while it might be a big stretch for me to play a guy with serious anger management issues, I think it’s a great concept.”

Sheen’s fall from grace earlier this year following his public rants concluded with legal troubles and rehab. Sheen was also fired from CBS’s hit series “Two and a Half-Men.” However Sheen seeks to regain his status as a Hollywood Heavyweight with his new television series.

Following his detachment from CBS and “Two and a Half-Men,” Sheen launched his “Violent Torpedo of Truth,” comedy tour that received mixed reviews across the nation. However, “Anger Management,” may be a good fit for the star. Joe Roth, head of Revolution Studios, which produced the movie and backs the new show, told reporters “Who better than Charlie Sheen to tackle Anger Management. With Charlie’s incredible talent and comedic gifts, he remains the leading man of TV sitcoms. I’m excited to collaborate with him once again.”

Although “Anger Management,” does not yet have a U.S. network it will be syndicated by Lionsgate unit, Debmar-Mercury.

According to Forbes, the sitcom will be a half-hour comedy loosely based on the film starring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson. Debmar-Mercury is the company behind Tyler Perry’s TV empire, including hits such as ‘House of Payne,’ and ‘Meet the Browns.’

However many argue that the show may not be picked up by a major network or cable station because of Sheen’s volatile history. Many also argue that as a result of his public debacles audiences will not want or care to see him in another role.
