Matt Damon got into a tiff with a Reason.tv correspondent during the recent 2011 Save Our Schools walk.

A reporter from Reason.tv suggested that lack of job security is why someone works hard. She suggested this was the reason Damon strives to be a better actor.

The actor and writer, Matt Damon didn’t take too kindly to this and fired back, “You think job insecurity is what makes me work hard? I want to be an actor. That’s not an incentive, it’s like saying a teacher is going to get lazy when they have tenure.”

Damon explained, “A teacher wants to teach. I mean, why else would you take a sh*tty salary and really long hours and do that job unless you really love to do it?”

The 2011 Save Our Schools march took place in Washington D.C. last weekend. According to Ibtimes.com, last week, thousands of public school teachers gathered in the capital to protest the Obama administration’s education policy with satellite protests taking place in California, Colorado, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.

Damon, 40, is best known for starring in and co-writing the screenplay for hit movie “Good Will Hunting,” for which he won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay and the Academy Award for his performance in the film. He also starred in “Saving Private Ryan,” the “Bourne” series, “The Good Shepherd,” among others.
