According to First Showing, the film is only set to premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas later this month but will also be released by IFC Midnight in the future.
The Human Centipede 2 is a follow-up to The Human Centipede, a horror film about a German doctor, Dr. Heiter, who kidnaps three tourists and conducts the sick surgery of joining them together, mouth to anus to form a human centipede. The idea is that the food all goes in the front and comes out the rear.
The original was given an R rating and Roger Ebert even refused to award stars to the movie after reviewing it. Ebert said in his review, “I am required to award stars to movies I review. This time, I refuse to do it. The star rating system is unsuited to this film. Is the movie good? Is it bad? Does it matter? It is what it is and occupies a world where the stars don’t shine.”
The new trailer features footage from the first film and welcomes a new villain named Martin and is reportedly even more disturbing than the first film. According to the Examiner, the writer and director, Tom Six, said this of the film, “The story of a man who becomes sexually obsessed with a DVD recording of the first film in the series, The Human Centipede, and uses sandpaper to pleasure himself whilst watching the film. He decides to create a “human centipede” of his own, this time comprised of twelve victims as opposed to the first film’s three.”
Earlier this year, the sequel was banned from the U.K. As we previously reported, the British Board of Film Classification reportedly banned it from the U.K. because of its sexually violent plotline, according to www.starpulse.com, and ruled that the movie had “unacceptable material.” The Daily Mail reported that BBFC found that the movie poses a real risk that harm is likely to be caused to potential viewers and that it breached classification guidelines.
