Pedestrian Killed In Long Beach

Man dies after being hit by a car in North Long Beach Saturday.

According to Nassau County Police, Michael Fenwick, 33, of Oceanside, was walking in the northbound traffic lanes of Austin Boulevard in the vicinity of Empire Boulevard at around 8:33 p.m. when he was struck by a BMW driven by a 31-year-old male.

Fenwick reportedly suffered severe head trauma and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:58 p.m.

There is no apparent criminality involved in the accident at this time and the vehicle was  impounded at the scene for a brake and safety inspection, reported police.
