Elk/Doe Club to Hold Night at The Races
The New Hyde Park Elk and Doe Club will hold its Annual Night at The Races at the clubhouse at 6:30 p.m. on Lakeville Road, New Hyde Park. Fifteen dollars admission includes: hot dogs, hero sandwiches, salads, beer, wine, soda, coffee and dessert. Cash bar for liquor, plus many more surprises. Trivia contest for lottery ticket prizes. Save Our Long Island Catholic Schools
On Saturday, Jan. 21 at 12 p.m. LaSalle parents, in collaboration with the five other schools targeted for closure, will rally at the Archdiocese of Rockville Centre, across from St. Agnes Cathedral on Quealy Place. The purpose is to focus attention on the absolute need to promote Catholic School Education and to save our schools. On December 6, 2011, the Archdiocese of Rockville Centre announced the closing of six Long Island Catholic Schools. St. John Baptist De LaSalle Regional School of Farmingdale is among those slated for closure at the end of the current academic year, June 2012. Anyone wishing to join in support of this endeavor is welcome.
LICM Theater presents Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Find out what happens when little Goldilocks stumbles upon an empty cottage during her walk in the woods. Goldilocks and the Three Bears was originally produced by Polka Theatre, UK in 2009 and is produced by special arrangement with “Plays for Young Audiences,” a partnership of Seattle Children’s Theater and Children’s Theatre Company – Minneapolis. The Tale of the Frog Prince Presented by The Arena Children’s Theatre
Every Saturday at 1 p.m. from January 28 to February 26, the Arena Players Children’s Theatre will begin the new year with a delightful production of The Tale of the Frog Prince at the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum’s Carriage House Theater. Defensive Driving Course at Knights in Garden City
Knights of Columbus No. 11836 at St. Anne’s Church is offering the community the Empire Safety Council’s Defensive Driving Course. The course will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the St. Anne’s Church Cafeteria, 35 Dartmouth St., Garden City. Attention Spring Boys Basketball Players
Port Washington North is a 3-year-old independent basketball team based out of Port Washington that plays year round in the super league at Island Garden and various tournaments in the metropolitan area. The program currently has a combined record of 30 – 3 in the winter super league. The emphasis is on teaching the fundamentals, developing good practice habits and preparing players for middle and high school basketball. The team has a professional trainer with over 20 years experience. They are currently looking for experienced and dedicated basketball players in grades 4 through 10 who are interested in trying out for spring and AAU basketball.
