Yet another fang-tastic movie is making its way to the big screen. It follows “Twilight” and television shows like “The Vampire Diaries” and “True Blood.” But this time, the vampires take a whole new role.

A trailer for ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ was just released and is spreading like wildfire across the waves of YouTube.

The Tim Burton 2012 American 3D supernatural horror film is based on the 2010 novel Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter in which the late president hunts down evil blood suckers.

The novel was released on March 2, 2010 and was written by Seth Grahame-Smith. Reportedly, the book is written as a biography of Lincoln based on “secret diaries” he kept and given to the author by a vampire.

Smith also wrote the adapted screenplay for the film which is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and is produced by Bekmambetov and Tim Burton. According to the YouTube trailer, filming began in Louisiana in March 2011, and the film is being produced in 3D.

In the new movie, the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, played by Benjamin Walker, is fictionally portrayed moonlighting as a vampire hunter. He becomes a hunter of the fanged creatures after his mother is killed by one.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter explores the secret life of our greatest President, and the untold story that shaped our nation,”reads the YouTube trailer description. “Visionary filmmakers Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov  bring a fresh and visceral voice to the blood-thirsty lore of the vampire, imagining Lincoln as history’s greatest hunter of the undead.”

A year later, he finds the vampire responsible for his mom, Nancy Hanks Lincoln’s death and kills it.  As the movie goes on, Lincoln reportedly meets a friendly vampire (Naturally, there are always both good and bad vampires) that helps him to become a good fighter and learn who the real vampire villains are. So begins Lincoln’s quest to kill as many evil bloodsuckers as he can.

The new movie is set to hit theaters June 22, 2012.
