Picture 3A new trailer for upcoming historical-action game Assassin’s Creed 3 has gone viral.

The video was released March 5 and gives gamers their first taste of the new game.

“The time is now, near at hand, which must determine whether Americans must be free men or slaves,” says one American soldier as shots of assassins attacking troops flip through. “Our cruel and unrelenting enemy leaves us only the choice of brave resistance or the most abject sufficient.”

“We have therefore, to resolve, to conquer or to die,” the soldier screams on the battlefield in the final scene, as his troops charge wielding guns and waving American flags.

The game, which is the fifth major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series and the third numbered title, reportedly takes place in 18th Century North America during the American Revolution, “where after more than 20 years of conflict the 13 American colonies and the British Crown are at war,” reads the caption.

While the video gives gamers a chilling glimpse into the bloody action, the caption does the same in words, “Battle lines are drawn. Bloodshed is inevitable,” and hints at a new assassin, “Out of the embers of his burning village, a new assassin will rise.”

According to ComputerAndVideoGames.com, the modern portion of AC3 will take place in upstate New York. It will feature new protagonist Connor, of a half-English, half-Mohawk blood who is fighting against white colonists who have reportedly attacked his village.

“His fight for freedom and justice will be forged in the flames of revolution,” reads the caption.

The game is set to be released in October 2012. Check it out.
