Old OB In Photographs
Raynham Hall Museum exhibit now through December features rare photographs of Oyster Bay from their collection. The photos are street scenes from 1927, 1958, and 1969 and the show includes photos of what the streetscapes look today. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. (Labor Day weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). The museum is at 20 West Main Street, OB. For information call 922-6808.
Unframed at OBHS
The Oyster Bay Historical Society exhibit, “Unframed” features small unframed works: portrait, still life and landscape sketches that show the artist’s process of observing reality and problem solving on canvas. Classically trained artists Kristin Künc and Rob Zeller join in a visual dialog that has been going on between artists and subject for centuries. Invasive Species Pull
The North Shore Land Alliance is asking for volunteers to come out and “pull” for the environment. President Lisa Ott said, “It’s mile-a-minute season.” The dreaded mile-a-minute vine is making its mark on Long Island as never before. Known for its rapid growth (up to six inches in a day) this invasive pest is outcompeting desirable native vegetation. The work starts at 9:30 a.m., on Thursday July 11; and Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 28. Additional times may be arranged for groups. The action qualifies for Community Service credit. Oyster Bay Main Street Association presents “Dancing in the Street,” a series of free Fridays in July in Oyster Bay for dancers of all ages, skills, and styles from 7 to 9 p.m. Sponsored by BMW of Oyster Bay they will bring their newest model cars for viewing on Audrey Avenue around the Bandstand. Bring a chair if desired. All steps are geared for singles and couples alike. Mark James assisted by Karen Lupo will be teaching on July 12. Enjoy dances from Salsa to Hustle, with some Sinatra, Pop, and Swing thrown in. For information call 922-6982.

The Spice is Right
Get acquainted with herbs and herb gardening with Michael Goudket, on July 28 at both 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, the home of Theodore Roosevelt, in Oyster Bay. Belle Voci Concert
Founded and directed by Jennifer Scott Miceli Ph.D., Belle Voci will celebrate its 10th anniversary at 4 p.m. on August 4 at Christ Church. This intergenerational Women’s Choir performs annually to raise funds for cancer prevention and cure. Proceeds from concert ticket sales are donated to the American Cancer Society. Teaching Studios 3nd Annual Plein Air Competition will be held at Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay, on August 9 and 10. Thirty-five selected artists will compete for over $2000 in prizes donated by Jerry’s Artarama, as well as a $1000 grand prize awarded by the Teaching Studios. Poetry in Motion
Dr. Linda Opyr, Nassau County Poet Laureate 2011-13, will lead a poetry workshop on the grounds of Sagamore Hill National Historic Site on Aug. 11 at both 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Participants should bring a pen and notebook, and wear comfortable shoes and clothing. The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St, Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community.
