Long Island Fight For Charity Gears Up For a Knockout Event

The annual Long Island Fight For Charity, set for November 25, 2013, has confident contestants training hard to get in shape, make a difference and be a hero.

Celebrating its 10th year, the event pits local wannabe brawlers against one another in a boxing bout for a cause. This display of pugilist philanthropy has included Long Island business leaders and other charitable-minded folks throughout the years, including the Long Island Press’ own Felice Cantatore in 2010.

The 2013 field includes the head of Alure Home Improvements, Sal Ferro, currently undergoing intense training for the event, trading in joists for jabs, underlayments for uppercuts, cabinets for crosses and foundations for footwork.

This year’s main event will take place on November 25, with a boxer matchup announcement event taking place at Carlyle at the Palace on October 7, 2013.

Benefiting charities include The Genesis School, Long Island Community Chest and the National Foundation for Human Potential.
