MSA Benefit Party
The Oyster Bay Main Street Association hosts its End of the Season Benefit Party on Sept. 25, at the newly reconstructed Creek Beach Club. Tickets are $150 per person. Field Trip to Sleepy Hollow
The Post Library Association and the Oyster Bay Historical Society will lead a bus trip to visit Historic Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown on Thursday, Sept. 26. The tour bus leaves at 8:30 a.m. from the CW Post campus of LIU, 720 Northern Boulevard in Brookville, and returns at about 5 p.m. Please enter campus at the East Gate off Northern Boulevard and park in the first lot to the left. The cost is $95 per person for OBHS and PLA members ($115 for non-members). Transportation, lunch, tours, and light snacks en route are all included. Tour highlights include Philipsburg Manor, the Old Dutch Church and Burying Ground, Union Church, and Sunnyside, with lunch at Bridge View Tavern. Centre Island Botanica
The Oyster Bay Historical Society welcomes author Deborah Munson Smith with a reception for her latest book, A Centre Island Botanica. The reception and book signing will take place at the Society’s Angela Koenig Center, 20 Summit Street in Oyster Bay, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 27. The reception is free and open to the public, with light refreshments provided. Copies of A Centre Island Botanica will be available for purchase and signing. Wellness Walk 2013
The Life Enrichment Center of Oyster Bay holds its annual Wellness Walk fundraiser will be held on Sept. 28. The Oyster Bay Cooperative Preschool will join in this inter-generational event. Meet at the center at 9 a.m. for a warm-up session. The walk is a leisurely 1.5 miles around town with fun stops included. Return to the center for refreshments, a cash prize raffle drawing and a host of other activities. Pre-register to receive a free T-shirt. Call 922-1770 for information.
Card Making Extravaganza
The Oyster Bay Historical Society welcomes Diana Kovacs and her latest Card Making Extravaganza class on Saturday, September 28, from 12:30 to 3:30 pm at the Society’s Koenig Center on 20 Summit Street in Oyster Bay. Attendees will make six different cards in this three-hour class, using papers, ribbons, button fibers, and other collage materials, while exploring different layouts for a multitude of possibilities. Plein-Air Landscape Painting
Learn Plein-Air Landscape painting with Annie Shaver-Crandell at Planting Fields in watercolor, oil or acrylic. Bring a bag lunch or purchase at café. Preserving Family Scrapbooks
The Oyster Bay Historical Society’s Archivist/Librarian Nicole Menchise will discuss best practices for preserving fragile family scrapbooks during the Society’s Preservation Workshop on, Oct. 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Koenig Research Center, 20 Summit Street. Boys & Girls Club Gala
The Oyster Bay-East Norwich Boys & Girls Club will hold their annual gala fundraising party at Oheka on Thursday, Oct. 23. “The galas have been held for several years at the Metropolitan in Glen Cove, and we decided it was time to do something new,” said Sharon Sliva, executive director. Food Pantry
The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St, Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community.
