Local Civic To Hold Bond Presentation

Residents For A More Beautiful Garden City Park is hosting a presentation from the Sewanhaka Central High School District on the proposed bond referendum on Nov. 12 at 7:15 p.m. at the Garden City Park School on Central Ave. The vote is on Wednesday, Dec. 4.

This bond referendum is to address the needs for all five high schools and their grounds through out the district. There will be an opportunity for questions from the community to address the representative from the school district after a PowerPoint presentation.

Residents For A More Beautiful Garden City Park is also working on the holiday decorations for the community. Anthony Colon (Tony) and Eric Rudd are working to get this project completed. In the past, the community has been in the dark with holiday decorations on Jericho Turnpike. Colon and Rudd have been in touch with the town and have seen the 30-pole decoration sitting in the basement at the highway department.

These holiday decorations were purchased back in 2010 by the Town of North Hempstead for the community. Colon and Rudd are working with the Town of North Hempstead and the Garden City Park Civic Association to get these holiday decorations on the poles along Jericho Turnpike this coming holiday.

Colon is also working on a community Christmas tree lighting event. He who heads the Holiday Decorating Committee and is looking for volunteers and merchant donations.

If you would like to volunteer or donate to this holiday event, either attend the open house meeting on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Garden City Park School on Central Avenue, or you can send an email to info@ourgcp.com.

Residents For A More Beautiful Garden City Park is also planning a night with the local town councilmen on Nov. 12, but will schedule the winner after Election Day. Incumbent Councilman Angelo Ferrara will face-off against Democratic challenger Sid Nathan.

The group is looking for members, volunteers and business to join. Any questions? Email info@ourgcp.com
