Port Antique Dealers Like Diversity

antique

antiqueLong Island is home to an array of shops and dealers, and it might be said that one of the more eclectic is in Port Washington.

That’s because of the diverse interests of partners Rosalynn Maret and Marty Fribush who work at Giles Antiques, a storefront located on Main Street.

The two blend their collective expertise to create an informative and comprehensive experience for customers.

Rosalynn, who’s been actively involved with antiques for over 45 years, specializes in American pottery while Marty has much more diverse interests. As such, the two fill the store with a variety of relics scattered throughout time.

What’s most interesting about this duo is the chemistry between them. Rosalynn is very much a specialist, a one-at-a-time type collector who travels all over looking for new items. While doing this, Rosalynn injects a deep sense of personalization. How? By collecting and sharing each and every item’s unique history with customers.

Opposite of this, Marty, works on a much larger scale. He “goes in, cleans up, and liquidates items in houses,” said Rosalynn.

He’s done this for many people across the island, including famed comedian/actor Alan King. Though these methods digress from one another, the two offer customers a truly encompassing experience.

So, while the island is populated by a variety of antique shops and dealers, which can often make it hard to find what you’re looking for, Marty and Rosalynn provide a level of expertise that can help to narrow the scope greatly.

Additionally, their insights and genuine passion allow them to collect many unique items from across the country.

Thanks to the Giles’ storefront, Long Islanders are able to get a slice of the past that extends far beyond the peninsula.
