Town Salaries Raised

At a recent town council meeting of the Town of North Hempstead, salaries raises were voted in for the town board. The vote passed 4 to 2, along party lines.

Councilwoman Anna Kaplan offered an amendment to the original proposal from Supervisor John Riordan. Kaplan’s proposal reduced town council salaries compared to the original proposal. Instead of a raise to $55,000, council members will receive $49,000 (up from $40,000 currently).

The amendment also kept the town supervisor salary at $133,000 instead of raising it to $138,000.

The receiver of taxes and town clerk increases remained the same as the supervisor’s original proposal ($90,000 to $115,000 for the receiver of taxes and $85,000 to $105k for clerk).
