Melville House Fire Leaves 1 Dead

A 92-year-old man was found dead inside a Melville house that caught fire on Sunday night, Suffolk County police said.

Officers and firefighters responded to the blaze on New York Avenue where the body was found on the ground floor shortly before 10 p.m.

The victim identified as Domenicko Denito, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Melville Fire Department firefighters extinguished the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation but does not appear to be criminal.
