It wasn’t the Subway Series, but the Mets and Yankees did play in Manhasset,as the Manhasset PAL version of the two clubs met up under the newly installed lights at Manhasset Valley Park. Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Councilwoman Anna Kaplan attended the game to see the new lights in action.
Supervisor Bosworth said of the new lights, “Athletic fields with lights enhance the quality of life in our Town and give our young ones even more opportunities to play in our beautiful parks.”
Councilwoman Kaplan, who was instrumental in the building of the park and installation of the lights said, “I think it is such a thrill for these young athletes to be able to play in a top of the line park like this right in their own hometown.”
Manhasset Valley Park had its grand opening last April and features two turf athletic fields, one for baseball and one multi-purpose field which has been dedicated to local Manhasset legend Jim Brown.
