The Manhasset Community Fund held its Awards Ceremony at the Greentree estate on June 9 where an official grant presentation was made to local organizations that provide programs and services for Manhasset residents. Funds are raised each year through the mail campaign.

The MCF was established 67 years ago in 1946 as the “United Fund of Manhasset.” Scores of neighborhood volunteers went door-to-door to collect for the Manhasset Community Fund. Local soliciting gave way to the “mailbox.” Each year directors meet to evaluate the purposefulness and worthiness of the submitted applications and decide on the recipients.
This year’s committee included Judy Cronin, Dennis Dennerlein, Vicki Fontanetta, Joseph Leonardi and Mary Madden.
The Hon. Anna M. Kaplan, North Hempstead Councilwoman for the fourth district, congratulated the grantees and expressed the appreciation of the Manhasset community for providing critical services to families and children.
Outgoing President Michele Tempesta introduced incoming Co-Presidents, Iliza Bartels and Wendy Bennett.
John Morse and Thomas O’Malley are co-vice presidents. Dennis Dennerlein, outgoing vice president, was unable to attend but was honored for his years of dedication.
